My Yoga History

I began practicing yoga in 2000.  As most people they are introduced to yoga at their gym.  I never really thought it was so effective because I only did it once a week or every other week.  After 2 years I heard about "hot yoga" through fellow gym members.  I checked it out and LOVED it! I dedicated myself to Bikram's practice for almost 2 years.

In 2004 I became curious of other types of yoga.  The Santa Barbara Yoga Center offered many options.  I was like a kid in a candy store. I tried Kundalini, Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa.

My first Kundalini class was in the evening, that night I could not sleep. I was amazed how much energy the lesson gave me. My first Iyengar class was with Richard from IYSSB. Wow, how different in comparison to Kundalini. My first Ashtanga class was with a man named Damien; I was amazed again by a totally different style. Then, Vinyasa - this is the practice that spoke to me. I tried many different teachers. Some I liked and some I did not.  As my practice grew I realized that I would be dedicated to my yoga practice for the rest of my life.  The more I learned, the more I thought to myself how lucky I was to find this comfort.  My soul, the energy in my body was becoming more comfortable inside my skin.  My mind and my body knew that it had found home.  I felt more aware of my toes, my fingers, and the crown of my head.

In 2005 I found my most inspirational teacher, Deb Dobbin. I practiced under her for 4 years.  In 2008 I attend White Lotus Teacher Training with Ganga White and Tracy Rich. I have taken both my years of practice and my training from Ganga and Tracy to Amsterdam, Holland.

I am really enjoying spreading yoga here in The Netherlands.  I have my own studio and also teach at ClubSportive.   In fact, in February ClubSportive asked me to begin a class that focused on Kama Sutra.  I have developed a lesson that not seedy, it is sensual, kind, loving and effective…lots of hip openers.

At this point I am here and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you, and you sharing your knowledge with me.
